Mock data

Mock, sandbox and live records

Every record in SecurePay carries a source. Mock is demonstration content, sandbox is a test environment, and live is real activity.

Why it matters

Confusing a test record with a real one leads people to expect money that was never real.

How it works

  1. 1Mock records exist to demonstrate the product and are labelled as such.
  2. 2Sandbox records behave like real ones but move no money.
  3. 3Live records are produced by real activity under production access.

A practical example

A developer building for a Kenyan hardware chain tests a full delivery flow in sandbox, including a failed settlement, before requesting production access.

Common misunderstanding

A sandbox page is treated as a live payment page.

What to check before acting

  • Read the environment label on the surface.
  • Never pay against a sandbox page.
