Who created the agreement is not always the payer
Creating an agreement is one role. Funding it is another. SecurePay never assumes they are the same person.
Why it matters
Assuming the creator pays leads to agreements that ask the wrong person to act, and to money being expected from someone who never accepted that responsibility.
How it works
- 1The creator prepares and proposes the version.
- 2The payer is named separately and accepts the responsibility to fund.
- 3The recipient, the performer and the confirmer are also named separately.
A practical example
Mary prepares the cement agreement because she manages the site, but James, her brother in Nakuru, is the payer. Mary confirms delivery; James does not.
Common misunderstanding
People read 'created by Mary' as 'Mary owes the money'.
