Mock data
What happens when a payment is pending?
Pending means SecurePay is waiting for a reliable provider outcome. Another attempt may create a duplicate transaction.
Why it matters
Duplicate payments are the most common avoidable money problem, and they are hardest to unwind at exactly the moment people are anxious.
How it works
- 1The funding action is recorded with a reference.
- 2SecurePay repeatedly checks the provider for an outcome.
- 3The state resolves to confirmed, failed, or under reconciliation.
A practical example
A contributor pays towards the estate CCTV fund on a slow network. The screen closes with no message. The contribution record shows pending with a reference — and resolves to confirmed eleven minutes later.
Common misunderstanding
Pending is treated as failed.
What to check before acting
- Read the last checked time.
- Keep the reference.
- Do not pay again while the state is pending.
