Mock data
What happens when settlement is uncertain?
When rail information is delayed or inconsistent, SecurePay records the uncertainty rather than declaring an outcome.
Why it matters
A confident wrong answer about money is worse than an honest uncertain one.
How it works
- 1The release instruction and its reference are recorded.
- 2If the rail outcome is unclear, the position moves to under reconciliation.
- 3SecurePay resolves the provider information and records the final outcome.
A practical example
A settlement to a supplier's bank shows as sent by the rail but is not visible in the account. The position is recorded as under reconciliation with a reference, and resolves the next working day.
Common misunderstanding
Uncertainty is read as loss.
What to check before acting
- Keep the release reference.
- Do not instruct another release.
- Check the last checked time before contacting anyone.
